Help your clients make informed decisions.
Divorce professionals don't need to become mortgage experts. They need to know when mortgage expertise belongs at the table.
MDMP works alongside attorneys, mediators, financial professionals, realtors and other members of the divorce team to help identify mortgage considerations before they become problems.
01 — REFER
Introduce your client to Karla when mortgage questions become part of the conversation. MDMP connects with the client to determine whether mortgage planning is appropriate.
02 — DISCOVER/CONSULT
Karla meets with the client to understand their mortgage, income, assets, debts, housing goals and divorce circumstances.

Potential mortgage and housing scenarios are explored to identify what may or may not be realistic. MDMP evaluates relevant mortgage and housing scenarios and identifies potential qualifications, limitations and questions that should be addressed.
04 — DELIVER
The client receives a clear understanding of their potential mortgage options and considerations. When appropriate, relevant information is shared with the client's divorce team.

Karla communicates relevant mortgage considerations back to the appropriate members of the divorce team. The team remains focused on the mortgage side while coordinating with the attorney, mediator, financial professional, realtor or other appropriate team members.
Generalized Timeline of How MDMP Works
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Every divorce is unique, and so is the MDMP process. We tailor our approach to each client’s specific needs and circumstances. The timeline above is a general guide, not a fixed process.
When should you refer a client?
Consider bringing MDMP into the conversation when your client:
Wants to keep the marital home
Is considering buying out their spouse
May need to refinance
Is considering a mortgage assumption
Is deciding whether to sell
Wants to purchase a new home
Relies on child or spousal support
Has questions about debt allocation
Is unsure whether they can qualify on their own
Has a proposed settlement involving the home
Wants to understand their options before negotiations begin
The earlier MDMP is involved, the more options there may be to explore.
How should you refer a client?
Simply have your client schedule an initial consultation by booking a call through the website.
How much does MDMP cost?
FOR INITIAL 20 MINUTE CONSULTATION: $125
The initial consultation is designed to help your client understand their situation, identify their questions, and determine whether additional mortgage planning is appropriate.
What does the initial consultation include?
The initial 20-minute consultation is an opportunity for your client to ask questions while Karla gains an understanding of their homeownership goals and current circumstances.
The primary objective is to quickly identify potential opportunities, financing obstacles and possible paths to preserving homeownership after divorce. Whether that involves a mortgage assumption, refinancing to retain the marital home or selling and purchasing another property, Karla assesses what may be possible and where additional planning could make a difference.
By the end of our conversation, Karla can typically determine whether your client would benefit from additional consulting and what level of involvement may be needed.
Why a fee-based consulting model?
Because the best mortgage strategy for your client may not involve a new mortgage at all.
Traditional mortgage lenders get paid when a loan closes. If there's no loan, there's no commission. That creates a financial incentive to recommend a new mortgage, even when it may not be the best option for your client.
My Divorce Mortgage Planning is different. The consulting fee compensates us for the expertise and strategy, regardless of whether a new mortgage is needed.
Your client deserves mortgage advice driven by their best interests, not by the need to close a loan.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: A consultation is not a commitment to hire MDMP for the clients’ specific situation.
If the client chooses hire MDMP and depending on their situation, they will require a 2-3 hour meeting with Karla. The rates for meeting are $375 per hour.

Your client doesn't need to have all the answers before we speak. That's the purpose of the initial consultation.
The goal isn't to resolve every mortgage-related issue in 20 minutes. It's to identify a potential path forward and determine what additional planning may be needed to ensure the terms being negotiated support your client's homeownership goals.
